As everybody knows, one of the most toxic waste and that are very difficult to recycle or re-use, are those that at some time formed a part of a computer. mother boards, video and sound cards, monitors, and other integrated circuits, contain metals as gold, zinc, copper, manganese, magnesium, lead, mercury and other elements that perform harmful effect on health. But... What about not waste products, specifically, the computers that even are in use, and those who are selling???
The Apple products success, is based on their products design. They're practical, useful, and offer an enormous range of products for all kind of costumers. With an attractive presentation, Apple mobil devices like ipod or iphone, have many entreteinment and productivity applications, Apple computers have one of most powerful and stable operative systems.
Neverthless, Apple, has put in interdiction their philosophy of creativity and innovation, on having refused to change the materials with wich their components are made, most of them, are considered toxic and potentially carcinogen.
In October, 2008, a blog called Liberation, published a research made by the French National Centrefor Scientific Research, finding that the computers, specially the MacBook Pro 2008 and older,emits seven "volatile organic contaminants", incluiding styrene, benzene and its derivatives.
Benzene, a carcinogen, damages bone marrow and can decrease red blood cells, leading to leukemia and other blood and tissue cancers.
And what about iPhones and iPods?? Well, Apple, is called as clean company, its proud to highlight that ipod shuffle external baterry pack and other minor accesories are PVC free, but shuffle is not a major high-volume product line. Meanwhile products like iPhones and iPod video, for example, have a lot of toxic elements in their components and these, produce toxic gases of mercury, benzene, fluroide, plumb and aluminium, this gases are absorbed by the body thru respiration, and distributed towards differents body places by the blood.
Apple, is ranked right now, in a lower level than HP, Dell, Nokia and Sony in the Greenpeace Scorecard. So, where's the innovative thought?
Apple, its great company, with a lot creativity, but the problem is that they are lagging behind other companies like HP, specially because Apple do not want to change the components of their products, continue with the development of mobil devices with plastic structure and of course, non reclycled materials.
